CIPS - DCVG

Protect your pipeline by inspecting the integrity of the Cathodic Protection

Why use CIPS-DCVG?

Your pipeline is protected against corrosion (metal loss) using a Cathodic Protection system. However, over time your pipeline might still degrade. Therefore it is imperative to inspect the quality of your cathodic protection and pipeline-coating. CIPS-DCVG will provide this information.

  • The Close Interval Potential Survey (CIPS) technique provides the pipeline operator with an overall picture of how satisfactory the
level of protection is on each pipeline. Information on the condition of the coating can be inferred from the results.
  • The Direct Current Voltage Gradient Survey (DCVG) survey provides the pipeline operator with a unique pipeline coating condition survey that is unsurpassed in terms of quality and accuracy. The DCVG survey utilizes the pipeline’s existing Cathodic Protection system to accurately locate coating defects along the pipeline’s route. Defects are located by measuring the differences in the voltage gradients in the soil caused by the flow of CP current.
